Death Knell For A TV.

Oh no! The old TV in the other bedroom died yesterday. I was making a sweater on the knitter and watching TV, when all of a sudden, the picture was white with pale gray outlines of the people. I could hear the program, but I couldn't see it. A few minutes later, the death throes began. Clicks, pops, and a very weird-sounding wheezing could be heard. Then silence.

This was the TV that had no remote. If you were in bed, you'd have to get up to change the channel or adjust the volume. The grandkids didn't like it because it didn't have a remote and they certainly weren't going to get up to change the channel. Well, now they don't have to worry. There's no TV in that room so they don't have to get up at all.

I'm bummed about it. I had to move the knitter to my room. I always have the TV on when I'm knitting; otherwise, it's too boring. Now I have the knitting mess in my room.

That TV was only about 25 years old. I remember when I was a child, my Dad would go to the store and buy tubes and replace them and the TV would be OK again. There's nothing to replace in most TVs today. The repairs would cost more than a new TV.

Hmmm....birthday's coming up. Christmas is almost here.
