Thanks Giving...

After a few days of grumbling, he finally decided that we could go to Kara's for Thanksgiving dinner. Justin, Nicole and Alexander the Great were going to be in New Jersey with her family, so it was easier for Kara to combine both families instead of coming to our house and then going home and fixing another dinner for Chris' family.

I was all for it! Imagine - not having to get up at the crack of dawn to put the turkey in the oven (well, really Jimmy does that, so I shouldn't complain); not having to peel all those potatoes and fix the different casseroles; no pies to bake; no housecleaning to do! Yea!!

I had a leisurely morning to make a few Christmas cards for the grandkids (really cute!!) and to make a cranberry/apple casserole and some peanut butter cookies (with M&Ms - Yum!). After the casserole came out of the oven, I packed it up and we made our way to Kara's house.

There was so much food! Turkey, ham (yes, ham!), mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese, deviled eggs (Maggie called them "Angel-ed eggs), green bean casserole, bean salad, Watergate salad, rolls, my cranberry/apple casserole, the peanut butter cookies, corn, greens (spicy hot), pumpkin pie, key lime pie, rum cake....have I forgotten anything? I probably have. Kara has a nice, wide counter top, but there was barely room for everything.

Kara, Chris, Maggie, Emma, Amy, Sean, Keagan, Pam, Wilma, Jimmy and I sat down and ate almost all of it. Isn't it amazing how long it takes to prepare all that food and in less than 20 minutes it's almost all gone?

The food was delicious and everyone had a great time. We came home stuffed, but later that evening, I fixed a small pan of stuffing, made some mashed potatoes and gravy and we dove in again. And tonight's leftovers were equally delicious.
