Summertime and the livin' is easy...

I got the living room and TV rooms painted last month. Everything is fresh and clean. The living room hadn't been painted in about 15 years (or more). It was way overdue for a paint job. The TV room is where we spend most of our time and the walls were getting grungy from little handprints. I even saw where someone had spilled something and it splashed on the wall (down low). How in the world did I miss it? I also found little red marker marks on the wall. Jimmy finally put down the baseboards. He put the window trim up last fall. It has only taken him 27 years to finish the room. Justin was 2 years old when Jimmy first tore the old dining room out and turned it into our TV room. I have a cute picture of Justin "helping".

Since I lost my job a few weeks ago, I have all the time in the world, but no money, so anything I do has to be free or nearly so. Kara and Chris gave me a season pass to the pool. If you're lookin' for me, that's where I'll be!

When Brenda and Frank were visiting a couple of weeks ago, she and I went to Williamsburg and Jamestown. Everything there was expensive. We managed to find a reasonably priced restaurant while in Colonial Williamsburg. The food was good, filling and we could afford it. Some of the other places were way out of our range, moneywise. We had a nice time and don't need to go back again.

Since school is out, I've been spending a lot of time at the pool with Kara and the fish, I mean the girls! The first day there, they were hesitant to try jumping off the board. They hadn't gotten their "pool legs" yet. But once they did, they were all about the diving board, the deep end and swimming underwater. Emma has gotten very good at handstands. Maggie watched her for a few days and then tried it herself. She was amazed that she, too, could do it. It's so much fun to watch them learn that they CAN do something they see the other kids do.

We were standing in the water surrounded by a million kids when Maggie started noticing that some of the kids had been in her class at school. She was pointing out various kids and telling me their names and then said "I haven't seen them in ever so long!" School was out on Thursday and this was the following Tuesday. I guess when you are 6 years old, a few days are like a few months; or "outa sight, outa mind".

Without a job and no money, I will be mowing grass, kid-sitting and pool-side relaxin' - anything that doesn't require money. I'm still singing and ringing bells in the church choirs, doing the water aerobics 3 times a week, still in the community band (21 years!), still on the board of our local Habitat for Humanity, still making cards and scrapbooking, crocheting and cross-stitching. I still have dresses to make for the girls. Kara and I plan on going back to Florida with the girls, so my summer will be gone before I know it.

I'm still looking for another part-time job (hoping that I don't find one until September - shhh, don't tell).
