I was watching the news the other day. The reporter was at the marina near the airport in DC talking to people who were filling up their boats (spelled "Yachts") with gas. The first guy's fuel bill was about $600, while the second guy's bill was almost $800. He was planning on taking his family out on the boat (spelled "Yacht") to watch the fireworks from the middle of the river. When asked to comment on the high cost of an evening's cruise, he shrugged his shoulders and said "It's no big deal."
If I could have gotten through the tv screen, I'd have choked him! If I fill up my car ($60), I don't have any money to do anything. I either have the money or I have gas in my car; I don't have both. I have to plan my trips very carefully. No backtracking, no unnecessary trips. If I forgot to get something at the store it'll have to wait until tomorrow or the next day. I consider my "driveway" to be five miles long. That's how far it is from my house to town. A single trip to town and back again is 10 miles and that's not counting driving to the library, the post office, the grocery store, church, band practice or wherever I plan on going.
I hate not having a job.
