Justin and Nicole came up Friday evening and ended up staying until Sunday afternoon. Jimmy and I had a wonderful time with Baby Alex. He's such a calm baby. The only crying was when he was hungry, wet or tired. The other 95% of the time, he was smiling at us, cooing or staring at the ceiling in the TV room. The ceiling has wood beams that create a nice geometric design on white.
When Emma came in, she kinda took over. Need a diaper? She's got it. Need the pacifier? She found it. Burp cloth? Here's one! The only thing she was hesitant about was picking up a wet diaper. I didn't know you could actually pick one up with the edges of your fingernails.
Maggie thought he was beautiful and loved to try (unsuccessfully) to get his wild hair to lie flat. It sticks up like it's electrified. They both thought dressing him would be like dressing their AG dolls. They had a time trying to get the tiny socks on his feet. He kept kicking and squirming. He just wouldn't hold still. Emma tried holding his foot with one hand and, well, that didn't work. She couldn't put the sock on with only one hand. He was having a great time, tho!
Having a baby in the house again is just wonderful. Holding that small, warm body and having him look at me and smile just gave me a sense of calmness I haven't felt in a long time.
