It's that time, again. One birthday after another. Add in Mother's Day and my sister's twice yearly visit. This is the month my IBS symptoms usually kick into higher gear.
I actually love the month of May. Kara's birthday on the 3rd (yikes! She's 36!), Frank's birthday on the 5th. Mother's Day is the 10th. Maggie's 8th birthday on the 12th and last, but not least, Emma will be 7 on the 17th. We'll be having picnic-type foods every time we turn around. Three cakes. Ice cream. Hmmm....maybe some strawberry shortcake with lots of whipped cream. Yum! Ooohhh - how about some watermelon? Love it!
I was invited to play with the Kernstown Winds on the 17th, but it's Emma's birthday, so I'll pass on that. The Church is having it's annual picnic on the 17th, too. We should go to the picnic and let Emma have a really BIG party! I think she'd like that.
Brenda and Frank will only be here sporadically during the month of May. They're planning an RV trip to the north and Canada. While they are here, she and I plan on going to the Green Valley Book Fair and the Dayton Farmers' Market. Since Nicole will be working at home two days a week, we'll get to stop by and give Alex some loving and smother him with kisses.
The weather is getting better (and wetter), the daylight lasts longer, the birds are singing and waking me up every morning, earlier and earlier. The bushes around the house are blooming and the air is sweet with their fragrances. I love the smell of freshly mowed grass. Because of all the rain we've had (and are having), Jimmy has had to cut the grass often. By the next day, the dandelions have popped up and the yard is a sea of green grass and yellow dandelions. The pond is full, but covered with pollen. We can't even see the fish because of all the pollen.
Apple Blossom is this weekend. All the hotels and motels are full with bands and marching groups preparing for the big parade today. Hopefully, the rain will hold off until after the parade. It's already rained once this morning. It's still cloudy and looks like it will rain again.
I'm trying to decide what type of cake I want to make for Kara's birthday. We'll have a cookout tomorrow evening, so I better get cracking!
