Hanna, Where Are You?

Tropical Storm Hanna came and went without much fanfare. Right now at 6:30 pm the sun is shining and the clouds have lifted from Skyline Drive.

We weren't expecting a terrible storm, but the weatherman was predicting strong winds, heavy rain and some flooding. I think he was talking more of the area closest to DC. I think Alexandria and Fairfax County got street flooding. We didn't. The pond is still very low. There wasn't any run-off from the mountains to fill it. Our rain was just a normal one. If I didn't know there was a tropical storm, I would have just said, "Oh, it's raining." Watching the local (DC area) TV stations this morning, that's all they talked about - street flooding and such. They were asking people to stay home. HA! That'll be the day.

This is the first day since summer started that I'm wearing socks and - gulp - shoes, real shoes! I haven't had a pair of shoes on all summer. It's been sandals or flip-flops only. But my feet got cold so I broke down and put some socks on and since I don't like socks and flip-flops (it hurts my toes to have the socks pushed between them by the little thingy on the flip-flops) I decided to wear a pair of - gulp - shoes.

I think that means that summer is over.
