The End Times

Today was the final swimming pool day for the year. The sky was a startling clear blue with only wispy clouds floating here and there. The water was a chilly 70 degrees but it felt great after being out in the sun and getting hot.

Maggie, Emma and I had a great time. Some sunscreen, some pizza (really good !) and a few Snickers helped us get through the thought of this being the last day for A WHOLE YEAR! I told them it would only be nine months, but to a kid (and a grandma) it's a whole year!

I came home, washed the towels, folded up the little wheeled cart, de-clorinated my bathing suit, threw away the empty sunscreen bottles and sighed a deep S-I-I-G-G-G-H-H-H. The weather is still going to be hot for many weeks and I know I'm going to yearn for the pool. Sigh.
