It's August - Where Is Everyone?

I was at the pool today and was very sad (on one hand) to see the pool almost empty. Glad (on the other hand) that we didn't have to fight a crowd.

This happens every August. I don't know if it's because people are tired of the pool, have gone on their vacations, or decided they needed to do something constructive - like mowing the grass or painting a room.

I get sad in August because it means summer is almost over. The grandchildren have already gotten their school supplies and are anxious to get back to school and see their friends. Kara's not too thrilled, tho. But she's an adult and she knows what she'll be missing - sleeping late, for one.

There will be plenty of hot days after school starts and the pool will be closed. School starts on Wednesday, August 26th. I realize the pool will be closed that Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But why does it have to be closed that Monday and Tuesday??? It will reopen on the weekend and close after Labor Day. I don't understand the logic of it being closed the 24th and 25th.
