Lost : One Mind

I think I'm losing my mind.

I went to the store yesterday and before I went to the checkout line, I opened my wallet to make sure I had enough money. I unfolded it all and had five ones, two fives and a ten. I counted - ten, twenty, thirty, thirty one, two, three, four, five. Wonderful! $35! I didn't realize I had that much! Yippee!

At the checkout, the price was $2.88. I got out my cash and, wait just a darned minute!!! I looked in disbelief! There was a ten, ONE five and SIX ones! Whoa! $21! What the crap happened? In the meantime, the clerk is repeating "$2.88, please."

Now another light just went on! Oh, my god! I had counted the five and one of the ones as $10 each? The clerk is still asking for the $2.88. Would she just shut the heck up?!? I felt as if I were in la-la land. As I struggled to pay attention to her and give her the money, I counted out $2 and found two quarters, three dimes and three pennies and handed it to her. I said "Count that, because I can't count today". She counted it and said "I need five cents more." I gave her five pennies because I didn't see the three nickels I was holding in my hand until she gave me the receipt.

After I told Jimmy about my experience, he told me I wasn't going crazy. If I were crazy, I'd not know the difference. Well, that's soothing...

I laughed so hard, I thought I'd wet myself!!! Right here in the Haines, AK, library with 6 other computer users. Now try that money game with Canadian $$$. Their $2 and $1 are not paper but different size COINS!p
