We are down to the last few hours of 2008. There were things I wanted to accomplish this year but for lack of time, money or both, I didn't get them done. The bathtub is still sitting in the cellar in it's crate. The back room ceiling is still leaking. We can't find the leak on the roof, so we can't fix it. I still don't have a job although there is a possibility that I might be chosen for the Office Associate's position with the Sheriff's department. I haven't heard anything, but maybe.
Justin and Nicole are still waiting for Baby to make his/her appearance. Well, we still have a few hours left. If not this weekend, then the doctor said they'd induce next week.
I have loads of craft ideas I wanted to start, and some that still need to be finished. Oops. I had planned to take the photo albums apart and turn them into scrapbooks and then redo the photo albums with the left-over pictures. Oops.
I wanted to (and did, in fact) try to talk to my sister and had hoped for at least a distant relationship. That got knocked off the table quickly. At least she didn't knock my head off. Oops.
I wanted to plant some flowers and make the yard look beautiful like it did in years past, but again, time and money got in the way. We did buy four plants, but the summer drought and heat killed them in just a few weeks. A waste of precious money. Oops.
I wanted to visit with Brenda this summer but Kara's car troubles, my lack of money and gas prices got in the way. Oops.
We had lots of joy, too! Justin and Nicole announced the upcoming birth of Baby Neitzey! I entered 21 items in the county fair and won 21 ribbons and over $40, plus a "Best of Show" ribbon! I had a great time with the granddaughters at the town pool, watching them increase their swimming abilities. Just being with them is a joy, anyway, and I'm lucky that I can be with them often.
I got to see my cousins just about every month when we have a Cousins' lunch. Two of them come up to get haircuts and we get together with two more and have a nice time. When Jimmy wasn't working (ooh, that's part of the "oops"), he'd come along and that made it even nicer.
I seriously doubt that I'll do any better with my plans in the coming year. I always make wonderful plans and sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't. And sometimes something wonderful happens that I don't plan on - like the Baby we're waiting for!
There's always next year.
