One Myth Down...

Maggie lost another tooth the other day. She wrote to the Tooth Fairy and asked for toys! Kara found the note when she exchanged the tooth for a quarter. She wrote a note from the Tooth Fairy to Maggie saying that she (the fairy) preferred to leave toy-giving to Santa.

The next morning, Kara found her note under Maggie's desk. She casually picked it up and asked "What's this, Maggie?" Maggie freaked out, grabbed the note and threw it away in the trash and said "It's nothing!" I think she was very embarrassed about being greedy.

The next day, Maggie was trying to find her lost quarter and was rooting around on Kara's dresser searching for it. She looked in a container and found - Oh, no! All of Maggie's lost teeth. When Maggie was telling me about it, I asked if maybe the Tooth Fairy dropped them? Maggie smiled that little "Oh, you can't fool me anymore" smile and said "Nana, there's no such thing as a Tooth Fairy." I asked if Emma knew yet and she told me that Emma almost found them, too, but luckily she missed them. She agreed that she shouldn't tell Emma. I told her that she was really a BIG sister, now.

She then went on to tell me about a letter Santa sent her, giving her a square inch of land at the North Pole.

So she doesn't believe in the Tooth Fairy because she only gets a quarter per tooth yet will continue to believe in Santa who pays off big time.
